The Rollaway Nest Box can be assembled so the egg collection compartment faces inside or outside, depending on the direction the side panels are installed. This allows you to choose the collection orientation that works best for your setup.

Built-In Perch

A perch installs along the front of the nest box and can be raised to block hens from roosting inside the nesting area.

Assembly & Care

The nest box requires assembly, with the base supplied pre-assembled. Assembly includes attaching the side, top and back panels, installing the dividers and curtain, attaching the egg-box lid and front perch, and installing the mounting brackets.

For cleaning, Porta Coop instructs owners to open the egg pan, remove the nest turf, and shake or hose debris from the turf before sliding it back into place.

What is a rollaway nest box?

A rollaway nest box is designed so that after a hen lays an egg, the egg rolls away from the nesting area and into a separate collection compartment. This keeps the egg away from the hen until you're ready to collect it, while giving your flock a dedicated place to lay.

What sizes are available?

The Porta Coop Rollaway Nest Box is available in 18", 30", and 48" sizes. Porta Coop recommends the 30" Rollaway Nest Box for its 6' × 8' Heritage and Haven coops and the 48" Rollaway Nest Box for its 10' × 12' Heritage and Haven coops.

Can I customize the nesting compartments?

Yes. The dividers can be positioned to customize the nesting space for your flock. Porta Coop notes that the dividers are optional and that a more open nest box can typically accommodate more hens.

Can I collect eggs from outside the coop?

Yes. The Rollaway Nest Box can be assembled so the egg collection area is accessible from either inside or outside the coop, depending on how the side panels are installed.

How does the front perch work?

The front perch gives hens a place to step when entering the nest box. It can also be raised to block access to the nesting area, helping discourage hens from roosting in the nest box when it isn't being used for laying.

Does the Rollaway Nest Box require assembly?

Yes. The base comes pre-assembled, while the side panels, top, back, egg box lid, perch, dividers, and mounting hardware are assembled and installed before use.

How do I clean the Rollaway Nest Box?

Open the egg pan and remove the nest turf, then shake out loose debris or rinse the turf with a hose. Once clean, slide the turf back into place.

How can I encourage my hens to use the nest box?

Porta Coop recommends placing a small amount of hay or straw in the nest box at first to encourage hens to begin laying there. Once they are consistently using the nest box, the hay or straw can be removed.

How do I keep hens from sleeping in the nest box?

The front perch can be raised to block access to the nesting area at night. Porta Coop recommends doing this while your chickens are learning to roost elsewhere, then lowering the perch again in the morning.

Can I return or cancel a Porta Coop order?

Porta Coop orders may be canceled as long as the order has not yet shipped.

Porta Coop products may be returned within 30 days. Customers are responsible for return shipping, and a 15% restocking fee applies. If you need to cancel or return your Porta Coop, contact Four Leaf Coop Co for assistance before sending anything back.

Porta Coop products ship directly from the manufacturer to the customer.

Four Leaf Coop Co offers FREE shipping on Porta Coop products within the contiguous 48 United States. There is no additional shipping charge added to your Porta Coop purchase at checkout.

Porta Coop requires the customer's name, physical shipping address (no PO boxes), phone number, and email address to fulfill the order. Please make sure your contact and delivery information is accurate when placing your order.

Processing & Lead Time

The current estimated lead time for Porta Coop orders is approximately 2 weeks. Porta Coop's normal lead time is approximately 1 week, but lead times may increase depending on current order volume and production demand.

Delivery

Chicken Coops: Porta Coop chicken coops are delivered by LTL freight with residential delivery and liftgate service. Delivery is curbside, and you do not need to be home when your shipment arrives. Please make sure the delivery location is accessible for freight delivery and that there is a safe place for the shipment to be left.

Accessories: Porta Coop accessories may ship separately from chicken coops. Shipping method may vary depending on the products included in your order.

Shipping Damage

If your Porta Coop order arrives with shipping damage, photographs of the damage are required so that a shipping claim can be filed.

Please inspect your shipment when it arrives and photograph any visible damage to the product and packaging. Keep the packaging and any delivery documentation until the issue has been resolved.
